What matters for project planning
Charleston's preservation and floodplain offices maintain district maps and flood data that reach well past the historic peninsula -- worth checking against the specific address before any drainage, exterior, or structural work gets scoped.

Verify the property, not just the city
A citywide flood or historic-district map tells you nothing definitive about one parcel. Flood-zone status, historic designation, drainage easements, soil conditions, and anything already built below grade all need to be confirmed for the actual address, not assumed from general Charleston data.
